NOTE:
Although I use Sony Vegas 8, I’m pretty sure if not completely sure that you can use these settings on Sony Vegas 5, 6, and 7 as well. Just so you know.

For Widescreen+HD (like my videos)
Go into the Program (don’t open a project, just open a fresh window).
Go to File, then Properties
Put the settings in that window like this:

Use this setting to create an MP4 file that you can use on Youtube.

When using the Youtube HD 720p 1280×720 Setting for MP4, the ORIGINAL File created will be off, but when uploaded to Youtube, it will be on the timing you set in the original Project.

When the settings are all saved, start a project and when you have a clip, use the Pan/Crop Tool on each clip you use and go to the 1.85:1 Academy aspect ratio setting for if you use a border like mine. If you want what I call “Absolute Widescreen” then you should use the 16:9 Widescreen TV aspect ratio Setting.
