Hamilton’s run to the Podium at Oz 09

by NFL sunday games ~ March 6th, 2010. Filed under: Field Pass Audio.

Lewis worked his way through the back of the field to find himself on the rostrum, albeit briefly.

The audio for this video was disabled so I just picked a YouTube track.

    no, its because it …
    no, its because it was a yellow flag and your not allowed to overtake during yellow flags, but Trulli went wide around a corner and came off the track and Lewis went past him

    so why did lewis …
    so why did lewis ask if it was alright that he passed trulli…? did he bump him?

    Well I’m not a big …
    Well I’m not a big hamilton fan (he makes way too many mistakes in my opinion) but you gotta give credit where it belongs and this was a brilliant race by him. Not only does he pass at the usual spots at the end of the straightaways but he sets them up and passes them everywhere around the circuit. he also instinctively picked the right line at the start to get around all those wrecked cars, others would’ve probably piled into one of the slow cars.

    IMO Trulli …
    IMO Trulli shouldn’t be driving in F1 anymore, if a rookie like Kobayashi can come in and do a better job than him in just 2 races when Trulli has had pre-season + 15 races to get used to the car.. Not to mention over a decade of experience in F1 with just 1 win.. Theres a reason why they call it the Trulli train when you see lots of people backed up.. It’s cuz he’s SLOW :)

    you’ve got to …
    you’ve got to realise his car was one of the few running KERS properly. Without it he wouldn’t have done much overtaking in that race.. Still I’m amazed at how many places he made up in a poor car. I think its a case of not all drivers are mentally upto speed in the first race, where as drivers like Hamilton are on it from the first lap of the first race.

    @art2000cc - Lewis …
    @art2000cc - Lewis had a gearbox issue as well as his slightly hesitant start in Brazil 2007. In Fuji, he did muck up his start, but Massa also spun him. Australia was McLaren’s error. Hamilton was just following his team’s orders. In Monaco, he did brake slightly too late, but his KERS system probably upset the brake balance as well.

    He had to drive the nuts off a bad car last year, so this year, he’ll do the same with a much better car. That’s why I think he’ll be very strong this year.

    USGP2010 sorry guy look like your not gonna make the grid for 2010… sorry :( .

    In ‘07 and ‘08 …
    In ‘07 and ‘08 Hamilton had one of the best cars out there. With this ride he proved that he can work his way to the front in a doghouse (with a little help from KERS). The whole Liegate was a team-decision from McLaren. It’s striking, all the old guys (Mosley, Briatore, Dennis) throw out the rulebook as soon as retirement glooms.

    I’m a Hamilton fan. …
    I’m a Hamilton fan. I think hes a great sportsman and the most talented driver out there. Lets hope the car does well next season. Its gonna be a close season. Though I think Mclaren and Ferrari will be on top again. So a nice battle between massa and Hamilton ;-)

    Brazil 2007, start. …
    Brazil 2007, start.
    Malaysia 2008, Q session, impeding drivers.
    Bahrain 2008, start.
    Fuji 2008, start.
    Canada 2008, Pit Lane.
    Australia 2009, Driver Error with the FIA.
    Monaco Q session, Driver Error
    Monza 2009, Driver Error.

    I can’t remember anymore.

    No one is perfect but he has made mistakes. I don’t doubt Hamilton as a driver but alot of guys on YouTube make silly claims when he has many years to go. 2010 will be a challenge for him.

    Pehaps you can list …
    Pehaps you can list all the times Hamilton has “broke” under pressure in a title race? As for his mistakes and having a lot to learn, he’s more versatile and adaptive that any other driver on the grid.
    As for Monaco, perhaps you missed the cause of the crash being the KERS rear biasing the brakes under discharge?Exactly the same thing happened to Massa in exactly the same place..

  13. bmk139

    Nope, stewards …
    Nope, stewards didn’t believe his account of events that Hamilton slowed due to possible mechanical issue, and Trulli overtook under waved yellow flags, which is againt FIA rules.

    but didnt they …
    but didnt they prove that trulli was right bmk?

    Hamilton seems to …
    Hamilton seems to have an issue with doing well but breaks under pressure in races and for the championship.

    He did well to overtake some cars but the communication error or lie (take it as what you want) was his downfall. His mistakes with Monaco and Monza also shows, he still has alot to learn and I guess at 25 (judging by Schumacher’s comeback!), he still has many years in racing and will win another Championship for sure.

    thats like calling …
    thats like calling nelson piquet jr a “team player”. they knew they were participating in some ill practices and cover-ups. quit trying to cheat the system and accept your punishment. on topic: that was some nice overtaking. i wish theyd further develop kers and standardize it so everyone can have it

    i was about to go …
    i was about to go into a triade about how hamilton and mclaren learly constructed trullis disqualification. A very similar incident to Fuji ‘08 ie. hamilton f@#king around behind the safety car causing cars behind to be out of the race.
    but watching this i remember silverstone ‘08, man can drive.. full kudos. trulli just couldnt see and fell off the road (dusk races are cool ). shame he lied to the stewards.. he knew trulli would take the place back and be DSQ .. dumb jarno.

    hamilton is definitely one of the best overtakers in Formula 1. and he appears to enjoy it more than anyone and will take it to anyone

    @USGP2010
    i no …

    @USGP2010
    i no but because of the stewards being so biased AGAINST Lewis last year :@ they where afraid of being punished so they gave him the place back, but thats to having proper stewards next year not being bribbed by Ferrari, Lewis will rightfully be back on top :D

  24. MclarenGunner09

    Piquet used up all his KERS Maybe on the Pit straight not thinking to use it wisely like Lewis Did
